NJPIRG chapter to focus on global warming campaign

The University’s chapter of the New Jersey Public Interest Research Group will promote three campaigns around campus this year that address political, social and environmental issues affecting people at a university, state and national level.

Rallies Protest Big Money, Voter Restrictions

A broad coalition of civil rights and progressive groups kicked off a “Money Out/Voters In” campaign Thursday that features nationwide rallies to coincide with the presidential inauguration, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the third anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling.

N.C. student leaders help increase voter turnout

“Despite the dire predictions of low youth turnout today, young people once again showed that when voter mobilization efforts pay attention to them, they show up on Election Day,” said Renford Lynch, North Carolina Public Interest Research Group (NCPIRG) New Voters Project Campaign Coordinator and a sophomore at NC State.

Students seek voter pledges

Due to interest in student rights and advocacy on campus, Carnegie Mellon will found the first chapter of the Student Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs) organization in the state of Pennsylvania.
