“Textbook Rebellion” Makes Case For Cheaper Books At IU

The name Textbook Rebellion may seem a bit extreme, but IU students passing by the rally on their way to classes were eager to stop and sign petition protesting high textbook fees.  Nicole Allen helped organize the event that is part of a national effort to reduce textbook costs.

Who Is Richard Cordray?

When Representative Luis Gutiérrez, a liberal member of the House Financial Services Committee, heard over the weekend that President Obama had nominated Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, he wasn’t sure what to think. Not because he was unsure about Cordray’s record—Gutiérrez just didn’t know who he was.

Election bill controversy grows

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Last year Carley Sattler helped register hundreds of voters at Florida State University.

“A lot of students weren’t even aware that there were elections,” she said at the time.

Sattler is the Chapter Chair of FSU Public Interest Research Group and regularly participates in voter registration drives. But she may stop signing up voters because of changes in Florida’s elections laws.
