TRUCKEE, Calif. — CALPIRG’s (California Public Interest Research Group) Energy Service Corps (a joint project of CALPIRG and AmeriCorps) student volunteers will take time off from spring break to help communities save money on heating and electric bills. The student volunteers will perform free energy audits and weatherizations of homes and buildings in Truckee. They will also teach energy conservation lessons in schools and run a workshop for community members about energy use and energy efficiency. The energy workshop and weatherization for Tuesday, March 27, 3-6 p.m. at High Fives Nonprofit Foundation, 10775 Pioneer Trail, Truckee has been canceled.
CALPIRG’s Energy Service Corps has partnered with the Truckee Donner Public Utilities District’s Scott Terrell and Anna Klovstad of the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District for this project.
UC Merced’s Energy Service Corps has performed more than 200 weatherizations since September 2011, and educated more than 4,000 people.
